Clarissa Bonet
(1986- )
Clarissa Bonet is a Chicago photographer. She became fascinated and intrigued by the urban space after moving to Chicago and has been investigating it ever since. Her work is about city space and start night.I really like her work because it gives people a mysterious feeling. Also the light and reflection is very very spacial and nice.
Especially, I love this black and white photo.Even most part is dark, people who passing by makes the photo more meaningful.
Clarissa Bonet gives me some inspirations about taking people and cities.Even though she just take very common scene in Chicago, but her sense of taking photos makes the urban space striking. It is full of tall and mysterious buildings, crowds of anonymous people.
Clarissa Bonet uses stark light, deep shadow and muted color as her visual strategies. It gives me many inspirations that if we do theme like these we should keep exploring and describe the city.
Through her work, i feel like she uses the city as a stage and transform the physical space into a psychological one. The images that she creates do not represent a commonality of experience but instead provide a personal interpretation of the urban landscape.
She is so good on taking on walking people, their steps are nature not very weird. Also the shadow is very artistic.
